BROOKS RESIDENCE - modular

A very steep site, with slopes up to 45°, presented a challenge to not only build a house, but to provide flat wheelchair access into the building. The use of modular (manufactured) dwellings was decided upon at an early stage, to overcome the logisitcs of building on site, with only the pad footings & posts needed to be constructed on site. The actual house was then craned into position on 4 pieces, on on the lower level & 3 pieces on top, cantilevering over the base module.

A curved driveway from the street down to the carport provides the wheelchair access.

The design is like a tree house, looking down to the marina close by & sweeping views over the Peninsular area & out to the Hawksbury River. This house iisn't one for those with a fear of heights.
